Contact Lens Selection

Once Dr. Harris determines your precise contact lens prescription, he will determine which contact lens size, shape, material, and water content are best for your eyes. Depending on your lifestyle and healthcare needs, we will determine how many hours per day and how many days per week you need to wear your contacts and how often you will need to replace them with fresh, clean contacts.

For new wearers we provide your first pair for free so we can evaluate the fitting to make sure they are right for you and so you can make sure you like them before you purchase any contacts.

Also, if you would like to wear colored contacts, we will discuss and demonstrate your options.

We routinely use:

  • Sphere contacts to correct: nearsightedness and farsightedness
  • Toric contacts to correct: astigmatism
  • Bifocal/Multifocal contacts to correct: presbyopia

We have several techniques to help bifocal wearers such as:

  • Contacts for far with readers for near
  • Mono vision
  • Modified mono vision
  • Bifocal/Multifocal contacts

We have contacts which are replaced:

  • Every day
  • Every 1-2 Weeks
  • Every month
  • Every 2-3 months
  • Every year (rarely ever used)

We have contacts that are to be removed every night and others which you can sleep in from 1 – 30 nights without removal. Although the healthiest way to wear contacts is to use contacts that are approved for overnight wear but remove them every night (do not sleep in them).

Sleeping in contacts drastically increases your risk of developing contact lens-related disorders such as corneal ulcers (which are painful and leave scars), blood vessel growth on the cornea, and infections of the cornea, conjunctiva, and lids.

To help you save money, we keep our contact lens fees comparable to online companies. Also, some contact lens manufacturers offer rebates. Go to their websites listed below for up-to-date deals and coupons:
